Hornby Island stole our hearts — In the spring of 2023, Daniel and Rebecca became the proud new owners of a vineyard they now call Hornby Heart. Their dream? To create a haven where guests can experience the same Hornby magic that captivated them from the very beginning
A Journey Together — Their love story began in Cambodia, where a spark ignited amidst the wonders of Southeast Asia. Daniel was smitten at first sight, while it took Rebecca a charming five days to be swept off her feet. As they explored the world, a shared dream took root — to create a place that celebrates their individual passions and community.
Passion and Purpose — Daniel, Cordon Bleu trained red-seal chef and maestro of flavours, has a deep appreciation of the earth’s bounty, and a joy for fostering connection through food. Rebecca, an artist, with a deep love for helping others, recently hung up her veterinarian coat in pursuit of a new creative path, one that would allow her to combine her artistic talents with her passion for connection.
Finding Home on Hornby — Rebecca joined Daniel on his return to Hornby Island, and the island's breathtaking beauty and vibrant community quickly won her over. They spent their first summer together here, Rebecca pouring glasses of wine and Daniel showcasing his culinary talents at Hornby’s Sea Breeze Lodge. It was during this time that the seeds for their future with Hornby Heart Vineyard were sown.
